The composition of these chocolates for Diabetics is:
- DARK: Cocoa paste (54%), maltitol as a sugar
replacement (45.5%), soya lecithin (0.5%), French natural vanilla.
- MILK: Maltitol (42%), Cocoa paste (33.6%), whole milk powder (23.9%), soya lecithin (0.5%), French natural vanilla.
These chocolates taste very much like any excellent traditional chocolate.
Maltitol is an ideal substitute for sucrose/saccharose. It is hardly assimilated by the body and has a
much lower calorie count than sucrose/saccharose (Maltitol: 2.1 calories per gram versus 4.0 for sugar).
Maltitol is slowly absorbed. The rise in blood glucose and the insulin response associated with the
ingestion of glucose is significantly reduced. 90% as sweet as sugar, it is non-cariogenic. It may have
just a slight laxative effect if consumed in great quantity.
